Buckingham Ladies Hockey Club have been selected to play in the European Indoor Club Cup where they will represent England. They will travel to Antalya, Turkey for the tournament later this month.

Local fans agree, this is quite an achievement for a club considered one of the smallest in the county and unlike the larger clubs, it cannot afford to pay players.

Due to the financial restrictions faced by the club, they are looking for any financial support. The players all have full time jobs and are paying for the privilege to travel to Turkey.

The Ladies first team have been competing in the England Hockey National League for more than ten years. They have been competing in the Indoor Premier League for the past four years and have been finalists in the competitions in three of them.

Buckingham hope to repeat their success of 2020 when they won the domestic premier league and perform well in the 2024 European Championships where they will come up against professional sides from across the continent.

The success of the squad is down to excellent coaching and a talented group of players and the nearest they get to financial reward is a home-made pie at training the manage to win on the weekend.

Should you choose to offer your support for the side, a link to the GoFundMe page can be found on the hockey club’s website.
